Auto-nesting software takes each design's physical size, quantity and production spacing, then calculates placements across the available roll width. True-shape nesting can use transparent corners that rectangular packing leaves empty.
BOX PACKING
A transparent canvas can still waste physical film
Many placement systems reserve the complete rectangular canvas around each file. That method is predictable and fast, but curved logos, arched text and irregular artwork leave unusable corners inside those boxes.
The waste is not always obvious until the layout is measured in inches and priced as film.

Let compatible silhouettes share the empty space
Fill My Film MAX derives a one-bit printable mask and uses that geometry for nesting. The selected image gap remains part of the calculation, so a tighter layout does not mean ignoring production spacing.
On the verified sample job used across this site, MAX packed the same 15 prints on 25.13 inches instead of 31.5 inches: 6.4 inches, or 20 percent, less film.
